Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

What exactly is CSR? Corporate Social Responsibility is an issue with many different facets, which can make it hard to define for many companies. Regardless of the way in which it is defined, CSR is an important subject for all corporations today as people have a heightened interest in the proper role of businesses in society. This interest is promoted by increased sensitivity to ethical issues, such as the environment and treatment of employees. The Center for Corporate Citizenship of Boston College concludes their rather lenghty definition of Corporate Social Responsibility by pointing back to the core values of a company:

Ultimately, what distinguishes how a company practices corporate citizenship is expressed by the way in which it delivers its core values. Companies with an eye to the future will find how to fundamentally align and embed their core values... including the values that society expects them to hold.
